New Stockist ReFound!

Great news - we have a new stockist in Belfast City Centre!

'ReFound' is a design collective specialising in upcycling tired old furniture into new one-off 'reclaimed' vintage pieces. Previously having 'pop-up' temporary shops around Belfast, ReFound have now set up shop in a permanent new home in the city centre.

The ReFound Building front door

'The ReFound Building' is an old Georgian building full of beautiful, original period features. The multi-roomed shop, which was once an architects' studio and a solicitors' office, is now full of designer furniture, art pieces, home wares and decor, jewellery, clothing & stationery - all made from upcycled or recycled materials.

Beautiful original period glass panel doors in the ReFound Building

We have a range of our cards in the shop, made from recycled card with vintage collages and buttons, and our plantable Christmas tags (made from plantable seeded paper to grow wildflowers afterwards) - which are exclusive to the ReFound shop.

Our Vintage collage cards with vintage buttons, on recycled card

Our cards are displayed in a wall-mounted vintage suitcase

I love having our cards are displayed in a vintage suitcase - the whole shop is full of creatively displayed wonderful pieces and curiosities that just makes me smile, and want to take everything home!

Jewellery displayed in an old printers' tray

The ReFound Building is at No. 7 Wellington Place, Belfast.
Opening hours: Thursday - Saturday 10am - 5pm.
Just look for the red pillars and follow the furniture display up the stairs to the main shop!

Mollie Makes Christmas - Review & Giveaway!

When I heard Mollie Makes crafter's magazine had released a new Christmas book, I couldn't wait to see it. 'Mollie Makes Christmas: Living & Loving a Handmade Christmas' is a collection of brand new festive craft projects from selected crafter-makers & designers.

Read on for a chance to win a copy!

It's as interesting & pretty as the magazine is, with beautiful photography and design layout throughout. Its' size and feel means it's perfect to curl up with, grab a cuppa & get inspired. One of my favourite things is each new project page is covered with what looks like Christmas wrapping paper from the Fifties - cute!

Each project has the usual Mollie Makes' step-by-step pics, and there's great tips for each project, as well as plenty of blog links & websites, so you can continue finding inspiration well after the festive season.

My favourites include the paper-cut tree ornaments, a Santa kit (knitted carrot, mince pie & bottle of beer!) and paper 'string of stars' - I'll  definitely be making these all year round as they're too good just for once a year!

One little thing I have to mention is I would've liked a list of suggested suppliers for some of the unusual craft materials required, but I guess these lists date quite quickly and it's so easy to search online for supplies.

This is a book for Mollie Makes' fan and crafters, though some of the projects - knitting, crochet & lino printing - mightn't be suitable for the beginner, unless they had a crafty mum, gran or friend to help out. But it could just be what they need to get inspired & start crafting ;)

Want to get your hands on a copy of 'Mollie Makes Christmas' for free?
Courtesy of the kind publishers, Collins & Brown, I have one copy of the book up for grabs in a little festive Arbee Cards' giveaway - yay!

Feeling Festive!

I know it's Hallowe'en today, but my head's been full of Christmas for the last couple of weeks...

As soon as the last of the summer weddings finished at the end of September, I had to think less about vintage lace and roses, and start thinking Santa, reindeer, snow, sparkle and ho-ho-ho!

Of course, I couldn't leave vintage and retro styling behind (it's what I do best) so after a couple of weeks' sketching, collecting ideas and getting a collection of designs together, the 2012 arbee cards' Christmas collection are ready to go on sale online now, and at St George's Market this weekend.

I've just finished photographing the new Christmas designs and have listed them in our Folksy and Etsy stores this evening. Here's a look at the new cards now - I have to admit I'm really happy with how they've turned out.

We've got our best Christmas offer ever too when you choose any three of the cards pack (mix or match) - have a look in our shops at Etsy offer or Folksy offer and some great prices on the card packs at St George's Market too.

Hope you like them and are starting to feel a little festive just like me!

One Fab Blog Post

It's the one of the loveliest things a wedding stationer can have - being featured on a very stylish and well-known wedding blog. I really think wedding blogs have taken over the role of glossy magazines lately, and one of my favourite blogs is Ireland's wonderful 'One Fab Day'.

One of our Spring wedding couples, Bronagh & David, had their wedding featured on 'One Fab Day' in their 'Real Weddings' post. You'll have to check out the full feature at http://onefabday.com/vintage-style-wedding-by-sara-dalzell/

Our stationery was photographed by their wedding photographer http://www.saradalzellphotography.com/ It's really great to get the chance to see our order of service booklets, table plan and other 'wedding day' stationery that we don't usually get to see once they leave our studio! Hope you like the pics!

Autumn Offer!

It's Autumn, it's lovely and it's been an even better one this year as we've just had our first proper holiday and break since starting Arbee Cards in June 2010!

It was strange closing for a week while the outside world was still going - we've only closed before during Easter, Christmas and other public days off before! After a little adjustment, trying to resist checking emails or facebook...it was just what we needed.

I love autumn, it's the most beautiful time of the year for me, and this last week has been unbelievable with the amount of sunshine and great weather - better than our Northern Irish summer for sure. Spending time by the sea, trees, lakes, an old castle and a few great nights out with friends has really recharged my creative batteries.

So what better to reopen our Etsy shop today with a perfect autumn offer! You can get 10% off any purchase from our Etsy shop with our coupon code: ARBEEAUTUMN10

Valid until 17th October 2012, so get yourself over to our Etsy store now!

Poor little blog

Hello, my poor neglected blog...

It's been wonderful as a small stationery business to be so busy so much of the time, but it's hard sometimes finding time to post here - and I miss blogging.

I'm always taking photos of everything we're up to, so I'm going to try very hard to make sure I get posting more regularly and get this blog back to how it should be - full of pics and crafty, arty, wedding & vintage chatter!

Thanks to everyone who's kept following and I'll get cracking on the newest post straight away ;)

Something old, something new...

It's one of our favourite bridal events of the year this week! The wonderful Decadence Vintage Bridal Fair returns to Malone House, Belfast this Sunday for it's third year since 2010. We launched Arbee Cards at the first Vintage Bridal fair, so it's definitely something we always look forward to.

We'll have lots of new designs to show, as well as our current collection, all available to customise to create something very personal & perfect for every wedding.

Last year, we had a lot of visitors from all over Ireland, from as local as Belfast and as far away as Cork. We also had a lot of visitors to the fair who were just there to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and amazing vintage shopping but who weren't getting married! It really is an event full of beautiful and interesting stands, designers, vintage treasures and the coolest wedding finds around.

Belated Happy Birthday...

Hi! It's been ages since my last blog entry - simply because it's been a wonderfully, crazy busy wedding season all summer for us!

We've been working away on lots of weddings with so many lovely couples, both local, national and even worldwide - creating designs and stationery for weddings as close as Belfast, as far away as Australia and as exotic as Finland!

Unfortunately the blog has taken a back seat, but I wanted to share some pics of our 2nd birthday celebrations. On June 7th, Arbee Cards officially turned 2 years old and we wanted to mark our little milestone with our fab customers at St George's Market in Belfast. The Lily Pink Bakery (one of our fellow market traders & purveyors of fine cake!) made us some little cupcakes in our company colours of lilac and turquoise. Happy Birthday in style!

The last little cupcake didn't last too long! Yum!

Frock Around The Dock

Here are some photographs from the 'Titanic Vintage Affair' event Arbee Cards took part in on Sunday 1st April. The vintage fair was on the lower deck of The Barge, which is permanently moored on Belfast's River Lagan. An unusual venue for a vintage fair - but a wonderful day!

The lower deck of The Barge, packed with visitors and vintage sellers.

The theme of the event was both to celebrate Belfast and the Titanic anniversary, with lots of vintage, Edwardian/Steampunk inspired art, fashion & crafts and all things Maritime. With the venue being short on space, there was only a handful of sellers (including us, lucky enough to get a chance to take part!) but the talent and standard of design was incredible.

Rua Rose's Land Ahoy telescope necklace - a miniature that works!

Jennifer Robinson's steampunk inspired 'watch parts' jewellery
Leonara Ferguson milliner's fantastic Maritime steam punk hat
Keepin It Kitsch Maritime jewellery
The event was organised by the wonderful NI's Decadence Vintage, who created the Frock Around The Clock fairs.  I'm not a natural boat lover but loved every minute of this one off Frock Around The Dock special event!
