Photography by Brideen

When it comes to planning your wedding, word of mouth is always a great way to go when choosing your suppliers. If you're looking for a wedding photographer, I can 100% heartily recommend 'Photography by Brideen' from both professional & personal experience.

Brideen is the photographer behind most of our wedding stationery photography (the less stylish shots are my own!) and I've also enjoyed a family portrait session by Brideen & her partner Deci. Believe me, that's a huge compliment when I say I enjoyed having my photo taken!

I asked Brideen to tell me a bit more about her work...

How long have you been working in wedding photography?
"Since 2010 - I had been studying photography as a hobby, then I was asked to photograph a friend's wedding (in Paris!) I didn't set out to start a business, I studied Management and Spanish at Queen's University, Belfast, and didn't have any idea of what job I wanted afterwards. I just knew I didn't want a job I wasn't passionate about. Being self-employed I now work every hour possible, but I'm happy to be doing something I love.

What do you offer couples getting married?
We offer full day photography coverage & beautiful photo albums. Deci & I try to make it as stress-free as possible. Most people say they don't enjoy getting their photograph taken but we have a relaxed approach and document the day - we try to make it fun.

I love offering couples a wedding album, I really enjoy designing the albums and giving couples something that will last for years. It's a completely different experience browsing through a beautiful book with printed photographs rather than looking at photos online. It's one thing I would advise couples to budget for.

What is your favourite thing about your work?
I love that with photography, you're always learning. It's great meeting couples who put their own stamp on their wedding day. It doesn't have to be every wedding DIY project they've ever seen online, but something simple.  For example, one of our recent weddings, the bride's father was a baker, so he, along with the bride's sister, made all of the cakes & buns for their dessert table.

Another bride had an afternoon reception at the house where she and her family spent all their summers together by the sea. I love hearing wee stories from brides & grooms, and seeing family/friends in the best spirits on the wedding day.

I love giving couples all the snapshots of their day - it really goes by so quickly and it's difficult to take everything in so when they look at the photos, they can relive parts of the day. It's all about getting involved in each couple's story, and many of them continue to be good friends with us long after.

I love my job - I hope this shows in my work. Weddings are charged with emotion that it makes each and every one unique, and we try to capture this.

When I look at all those natural, candid photos of my childhood, it makes me so happy - I want my wedding photography to be like this. To picture people as they really are."

Vintage Fair in a Castle?

Yes!  This Sunday 7th April, arbee cards will be taking part in the Frock Around The Clock Vintage Fair at the beautiful Belfast Castle - and I'm excited!

The Fair is the from the organisers of the Vintage Bridal Fairs that I love so much, and I haven't taken part in the regular (non-bridal) Vintage Fairs for ages so I can't wait!

There are so many of my favourite designer-makers & vintage sellers going to be there too, so I hope to get a chance to do a bit of vintage shopping myself. Just check out the exhibitor list!

I'll have lots of new products with me, including new notebook designs, stationery designs & other vintage-inspired treasures so make sure you drop by the arbee cards' stand - I'll be upstairs in the Lyndon Room of the Castle.

Frock Around The Clock Vintage Fair
Sunday 7th April 2013, 12pm - 5pm
Belfast Castle
Admission: Adults £5.00 / Seniors & Students £3.00
Click here to visit the Frock Around The Clock website for directions & full details

The sad bit: the Decadence Vintage Bridal & Frock Around the Clock Vintage Fairs will be taking a break from this summer for at least a year - so this will be our last fair with them for a good while - so don't miss it!

See you there ;)
