Catching up!

I can't believe I haven't updated the blog or posted anything since May 2014! It's been a crazy summer, so here's a very quick catch up with everything that's been going on with us...

We changed our name! Ok, well it wasn't a huge change, we went from Arbee Cards to arbee* stationery & design. We felt we'd moved on so much from just doing cards, and it was time to update our logo, our name, and make everything fresh, which brings me to...

We've got a lovely new logo! Ok, again this isn't really new, but it's something that I've just updated on the blog. See that new header above, it's only just up when I'm typing this. The old Arbee Cards' luggage tag is gone and our gorgeous new apple green circle is now pride of place.

We've got a beautiful new website! We just love it and hope you will too.

We had our busiest summer wedding season yet! So many lovely weddings & we even got to be a wedding guest to celebrate with our lovely friends :))

We've got lots of new products! We've been busy developing new lines and ranges of our stationery and gifts. We're full of inspiration and so far have created mugs, bone china, fridge magnets, prints, personalised prints and...

We've got a lovely new online shop! We opened our Not On The High Street shop in March 2014 and it's been fantastic so far. If you haven't already dropped by for a nosy, go have a look! The link is just over there --->

We've been building our stockist list! We've got some fantastic new stockists selling our wares - including the Ulster Museum in Belfast, the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum in Holywood (where Rory McIlroy comes from) and our newest stockist is Cairn Bay Lodge in Bangor, Co. Down. Don't forget our fantastic main stockist the Visit Belfast Centre right opposite the City Hall in Belfast!

We've started some fairs! We joined a collective of other designer-makers, vintage sellers and crafters and in September 2014, we started a series of fairs under the name 'The Eclectic Emporium'.
See our diary page for our Belfast dates in October & November!

That's all for now! Well, we think that's enough for now, but I'll be back soon for more crafty chatter.

Mollie Makes: Weddings Book review & giveaway!

One of my favourite wedding trends over the last few years is the rise of the crafty DIY wedding. I've never been a fan of the 'conveyor belt' wedding, so even the tiniest bit of DIY or a little handmade something really brings the personal touch to a couple's day. I love hearing from our arbee brides & grooms about the crafts they're planning to add to their wedding!

If you're a crafty bride or groom, or want to add something handmade with love to a friend or family member's big day, then the brand new book from the hugely popular UK craft magazine 'Mollie Makes' will be right up your street.

'Mollie Makes: Weddings' published by Anova Books

'Mollie Makes: Weddings' published by Collins & Brown (RRP £11.99) is a collection of 20 handpicked projects from some of their favourite designer-makers. Projects include: Save the Date garlands, bridal bouquets, table decorations & centre pieces, napkin rings, place settings, wedding keepsakes such as cross-stitch samplers, photo album covers, ring pillow and good luck charms.

The book is beautifully illustrated throughout with gorgeous photographs of the finished projects, easy-to-follow instructions, and very pretty design and layout throughout the book. It's a gorgeous craft book just to browse through for ideas too!

Easy to follow instructions for each project throughout the book

The projects do vary in skill-level required, and some of the crafts would take a little time but would be a lovely ongoing project made with love in preparation towards the wedding. You never know, you could be creating a very special wedding keepsake for future family weddings!

My favourite project is the lace embossed wedding favours, little brown paper bags, tied with lace & doilies with the most perfect, delicate little clay embossed personalised tags.

Lace embossed wedding tags on favour bags - I love these!

I could see me making these for birthday presents all year round - many of the projects in the book are starting point of inspiration that go beyond weddings too! Many of the projects are very colourful too so aren't just 'run of the mill' wishy-washy wedding projects, and the pages are just filled with inspiration. The perfect book for the crafty engaged couple.

And best of all, the lovely people at Collins & Brown have given us one copy to give away to one lucky person!

Love is in the air

January is so cold, dark and grey that I really love getting all excited with warm cosy thoughts of romance when it comes to designing the new seasons Valentine's cards. Yes, I know, I'm a soppy old romantic, but hey!

I had good fun this year with something a little different for Valentine's designs, playing around with old antique images and cutesy love quotes!

I found some really quirky old etchings that were too good not to work with, including this old airship -

- and this lovel old image of a phrenology head - which really got me playing around with the idea of when you've just started a new romance and can't stop thinking about that gorgeous new someone ;)

It's great to find old antique images that inspire you, and I loved using them in this year's Valentine's cards.

All the designs are now available for sale in our Etsy store, and we can personalise them too (earn you a few extra brownie points this Valentine's day maybe?)
You can find them all at
